Everyone wants to be happy, but a lot of people aren’t willing to do the emotional work it takes to get there. Happiness isn’t something you can buy, it’s something you must find within. And if you want to feel happy, you should seek to feel these five emotions at least once every day.
1. Love
Now you may be thinking that you are not in a relationship, and how could you possibly feel love when you aren’t in a romantic relationship? And this is because society had taught you that a romantic relationship is the only place where love occurs.
And this couldn’t be further from the truth. Love is an emotion which can come from familial relationships, friends, and even yourself! Every day you should find something to love about yourself, or something to love about a friend or family member.
2. Gratefulness
Look around you. Look at everything you have. Sometimes people are so busy chasing the things they don’t have that they forget to be grateful for what they do have. And gratefulness, or contentment is an extremely important part of happiness.
This is because gratefulness gives you an inner sense of peace which can’t be found when you are constantly trying to buy the next big thing. If you struggle with feeling gratefulness, try to make a list of things you are grateful for in your life each and every day.
3. Curiosity
When you were a child, were you happy? Did you ask a lot of questions? This is because happiness and curiosity often times go hand in hand. When you are curious about something, this opens the creative aspect of the mind, and when you find the answer, this will give you a satisfying feeling.
Not only that, but constant learning is an important part of keeping your mind happy and healthy, and curiosity will keep you learning each and every day! So resolve to approach situations like you did when you were a child, and constantly be curious about the world around you.
4. Passion
What are you passionate about? If that question leaves you stumbling for an answer, this means you aren’t feeling passion properly. Passion is waking up and knowing what you will do with your day because you have passion for the things which are coming. And even if you aren’t passionate about what you’re doing (i.e. your job) you know that you are passionate about what you are working towards, therefore you work your job with a feeling of passion because you know the reward will be worth it in the end. Also, passion will help you to connect with others who are passionate about the same things. And connections with others are an important aspect of happiness.
5. Inspiration
Do you feel inspired? Because you should. Inspiration is the driving force behind a number of the most beautiful aspects of life, such as art, music, and books. Inspiration can give you a reason to get out of bed every morning, and a reason to pursue a passion even though it may be difficult at times.
Inspiration will keep you going even when the outlook may seem bleak and you aren’t sure where you are going next. So no matter what inspires you, grab on to this inspiration and aim to feel this feeling at least once every day.
Finding happiness within yourself is no easy task. But if you work to implement love, gratefulness, curiosity, passion, and inspiration into your every day life, these feelings will have you full of happiness in no time. And then you can truly enjoy your life all thanks to these five positive emotions.
